Spicy Garlic Croutons

Ingredients

For the dough

  • cups All purpose flour/Maida
  • 3/4 tsp Instant dry yeast
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Refined oil

For the Masala

  • 3/4 cup Onion slices
  • 1 tbsp Chilli powder
  • 2 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp Lemon zest
  • 1 tbsp Garlic paste
  • 1/2 tbsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tsp Chopped green chillies
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Oil

Directions

In a bowl mix the flour, yeast, sugar and salt well.

Add water and knead for 6 minutes.

Now add refined oil.

Knead for another 3-4 minutes.

Shape it into a ball.

Let it double in volume.

Meanwhile, let us prepare the masala.

Place a small pan on low flame.

Add oil.

Add sliced onion. Let it caremalise a bit.

Add rest of the ingredients.

Stir well. Turn off the heat.

Check if the dough has doubled. Gently punch down the dough. Add the prepared masala. Knead for 2-3 minutes.

Divide the dough into equal parts. Each weighing around 50 gms.

Shape each portion into a loaf.

Take a rectangular baking tray. Grease and dust the tin.

Transfer each portion to the prepared tin. Let it double in volume.

Pre heat the oven at 180 degrees C.

Place the tin into the oven.

Bake for 20 minutes.

Take the bread out. Let it cool well.

Now, slice the bread neatly. Apply garlic butter on both sides of the bread. Transfer it to a rectangular baking tin. Bake for 7-8 minutes at 150 degrees C.

Remove the croutons from the oven. Allow it to cool well.
