Spicy fish pickle ..

Ingredients

Ingredients for the marinade..

  • 500 g Fish
  • 2 tbsp Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp Pepper powder
  • Salt
  • Oil for frying

Ingredients for the gravy..

  • 15-20 count Small onion
  • 3 tbsp Garlic paste
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp Fenugreek
  • 1 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 7-8 count Whole red chillies
  • 1/4 cup Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Hot water
  • 1/3 cup Refined oil
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt

Directions

Clean and cut the fish into cubes . you can use tuna/ seerfish /pomfret /sardines . Marinate the fish with chilli powder , turmeric powder ,pepper powder and salt . I used Kashmiri chilli powder . Keep them in the fridge for 30 minutes .

Prepare rest of the ingredients . Soak whole red chillies in water for an hour .

Clean small onion ,garlic and ginger .

You can chop the onions or grind them . Keep ginger paste and garlic paste ready . Wash and clean curry leaves .

Heat oil and shallow fry the fish . Add curry leaves .

Fry until crisp . Turn off the heat .

Grind the soaked red chillies to a fine paste . Keep it aside .

Heat a pan . Add oil .Add fenugreek seed and mustard seeds . Add curry leaves . Now add the chilli paste . Fry them until oil separates . Add salt .

Now add ginger paste , garlic paste and onion . Reduce the flame . Let it brown well till the raw smell goes . Now add vinegar and hot water . Let it boil . Add the fried fish and let it simmer for 5-6 minutes on low flame . Turn off the heat .

Bottle them . Keep them in room temperature for a day and then refrigerate it .
