Oat Bread
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Oats
- 1 cup Hot water
- 1 cup All purpose flour/ Maida
- 1 cup Bread flour
- 1 tsp Instant dry yeast
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 count Egg
- 3/4 cup Luke warm water
- 1 tbsp Oil
Directions
Boil 1 cup water. Turn off the heat. Add oats. Cover it with a lid. Keep it aside for 30 minutes.Let it soak well.
In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together except water. Add the prepared oats. Mix well.
Now add luke warm water and knead for 9-10 minutes .
Add 1 tbsp of oil. Knead for 3-4 minutes until the dough is shiny, smooth and elastic.
Shape it into a ball. Place the dough into a well oiled bowl. Cover it with cling film. Let it rise.
Let the dough double in volume.
Now punch down the dough gently. Knead for a minute or two. Gently shape it into a loaf. Grease and dust a loaf tin. Place the dough into the prepared tin. Place the tin in a warm place.
Meanwhile, Pre heat the oven at 180 degrees C.
Place the tin into the oven. Bake for 30 minutes at 180 degrees C.
Egg wash the crust and bake for 3-4 minutes until the crust is golden brown in colour. Remove the bread from the tin. Apply butter liberally. Allow the loaf to cool well before slicing.
