Chocolate orange marble cake
This soft and moist tea cake has a gentle orange flavor . Cream cheese gives the cake a beautiful texture . A perfect balance of cocoa and orange flavour .
Ingredients
- 115 g All purpose flour
- tsp Baking powder
- 90 g Butter
- 2 count Egg
- 115 g Powdered sugar
- 40 g Cream cheese
- 1/8 cup Water
- 3 tbsp Orange juice
- 1 tbsp Orange zest
- 1 1/2 tbsp Cocoa powder
Directions
Pre heat the oven at 180 degree C . Grease and dust a 8" round baking tin . Sift the flour with baking powder thrice . Separate egg whites and yolk . Beat the egg whites till stiff and keep aside . Cream butter ,sugar and orange zest. Add egg yolks and beat well . Fold in cream cheese . Gently fold flour and water. Add orange juice and fold gently . Divide the mixture in to two equal parts . Transfer one part of the mixture into a separate bowl and add cocoa powder. Mix well . If the cocoa batter is too thick add 1tbsp of water. Divide the beaten egg whites into two parts . Fold egg whites into both batter . The batter should be of dropping consistency . Use a tablespoon to spoon in batter alternately into the greased tin . With a tooth pick give a gentle swirl only on top of the batter . Bake for 180 degree C for 40 minutes or until done .
