Ingredients
- 2 cups Raw Rice
- 1 cup Grated Coconut
- 1 cup Cooked rice
- 4-5 count Shallots
- 1 tsp Jeera powder
- 2 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 cup Kallu / Toddy
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 cup Water

Soak raw rice for 4-5 hrs.

Grind all the above mentioned ingredients except Baking Soda until smooth.

Transfer the batter to a high container and allow the batter to ferment for 6 hrs undisturbed.

Once fermented, stir the batter gently. Mix 1 tsp baking soda in 1 tbsp water. Add to the batter. Stir well.

Heat a non stick pan/ dosa tawa. Pour a ladle of batter when tawa/pan gets hot. Cover with a lid for a minute.The white batter turns slight yellow when cooked. Remove from the pan.Serve hot with spicy Chicken Curry.

Store extra appams in banana leaf to prevent the appams from drying.
