Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups Idlli rice
  • 1 cup Urad dal
  • 2 tbsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1/2 cup Cooked raw rice
  • 1 1/2 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp Soda powder

Soak 2 1/2 cups of rice in a bowl.

In a separate bowl, soak urad dal and fenugreek.

Soak for 8hrs.

Grind all the ingredients together except soda powder. Grind well until smooth. Add more water if the batter is too thick.

Keep the batter in a warm place. Let it fermentovernight.

Mix soda powder in 1 tbsp of water. Add this to the batter .

Mix the batter very well until fluffy.

Keep the idli moulds ready.

The batter should be of thick pouring consistency. Pour it in the molds.

Steam in a idli cooker for 10-12 minutes on medium flame.
